SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — National consulting, planning, and engineering firm Mazzetti Nash Lipsey Burch will engage GL Envision, a subsidiary of Gundersen Health System, to provide sustainability strategy consulting services to select clients. The combined service offerings will assist healthcare organizations by helping them implement strategies that reduce costs; set and achieve targeted sustainability goals related to energy, water and waste, as well as improve their overall environmental footprint. These strategies can be used throughout all foundational, operational and functional levels of the organization.

With hospitals and clinics in 19 counties and three states, Gundersen Health System understands the unique challenges of sustainability in healthcare and is leading by example. In 2008, Gundersen Health System developed a plan to become energy independent by 2014 through energy efficiency improvements and creating renewable energy resources. Gundersen has made significant progress in achieving those goals. Evidence of their success includes saving more than $1 million in energy costs as a result of energy efficiency improvements, and successfully implementing several large, solar, biogas and wind energy projects.
