DALLAS, Texas — Jeffrey Stouffer, AIA, ACHA, executive vice president and HKS healthcare group director, has been elevated to the HKS Executive Committee.

Ralph Hawkins, FAIA, FACHA, LEED AP, chairman; Nunzio M. DeSantis, FAIA, executive vice president and Craig Beale, FAIA, FACHA, CHE, CHC, LEED AP, executive vice president. The committee is in charge of managing the 1,100-person, 26-office global architectural practice.

According to Noble, Jeff brings a leadership style to HKS that is grounded in connecting with people while also developing intelligent processes that help the firm create enhanced value for its clients.

Stouffer has dedicated his entire 27-year career to designing cutting-edge healthcare facilities in the U.S. and abroad. He believes the fusion of evidence-influenced design and flexible planning principles result in facilities that support the hospital’s mission and the staff’s operational goals.

As director of the healthcare practice, Stouffer’s responsibilities include directing the group’s administrative, financial, management and strategic planning.

As a member of the Lean Construction Institute board of directors, his mission is to help transform design and construction through new approaches to project design and delivery. He has incorporated Lean/process improvement tenets into many of the firm’s projects, setting industry standards. He believes Lean design creates better outcomes, standardizes workflow and eliminates waste and reduces errors. He feels it’s safer for patients and the people who care for them. Stouffer is leading four major projects throughout the United States including Akron Children’s Hospital.

He also shares his knowledge with the design and healthcare communities by speaking at ASHE-PDC, Children’s Hospital Association, Healthcare Design, American College of Healthcare Executives and Healthcare Facilities Symposium conferences. He is an active member on a main committee and sub-committee for Architects for Health. He has lectured throughout the United States and published numerous articles on topical design-related issues. A mentor to countless professionals and students, he also serves on the Louisiana State University advisory board for the school of architecture.

Stouffer joined HKS in 1985. Beginning as an intern architect, he moved up the ranks through the healthcare design studios. Prior to serving as director of the healthcare practice, he was the practice leader for academic and pediatric health facilities responsible for master planning, programming and design of regional and national projects totaling over $10 billion in construction.
