Anderson specializes in healthcare planning and design, bringing more than 25 years of expertise to all types of healthcare projects. She holds a Master of Nursing degree from the University of Washington. Her leadership in Lean facility planning translates clinical needs into operationally efficient, patient-centered design solutions. She enjoys collaborating with clients who embrace change to create facilities that support improvements in the healthcare delivery system. Anderson has contributed to the design of a number of highly integrated and flexible award-winning healthcare environments, including St. Anthony Hospital in Gig Harbor, Washington and St. Anthony Hospital in Pendleton, Oregon, both for the Franciscan Health System, as well as The Everett Clinic at Smokey Point in Marysville, Washington; the Cymbaluk Tower for Providence Medical Center in Everett, Washington and two new clinics for Intermountain Healthcare, based in Salt Lake City, Utah. Anderson is a frequent speaker at national conferences, presenting on Lean facility design and the impacts this approach has on patient-centered care.

Harman has over 37 years of experience in the planning, programming and design of large-scale healthcare projects. In his 15 years at ZGF, Harman has proven himself as an effective manager, planner and designer of a range of medical facilities, including long-range master plans, inpatient towers and outpatient buildings. He is working on the new 650,000-square-foot Teck Acute Care Centre at BC Children’s Hospital and BC Women’s Hospital + Health Centre in Vancouver, British Columbia. Working in a pediatric healthcare environment and creating environments that support patients and families going through life-changing experiences has been particularly rewarding for him. Harman is a published author of several articles on advancements in operating suites, including hybrid ORs.

Mess has over 36 years of expertise in leading a variety of planning and design projects with a focus on healthcare facilities. He has successfully managed large-scale inpatient and outpatient facilities, and has become a recognized leader in delivering projects using an IPD approach. Mess was responsible for one of the firm’s first IPD healthcare projects that involved a true tri-party contractual agreement—the Integrated Procedures Center within Virginia Mason Medical Center’s Jones Pavilion in Seattle, Washington. He has also led all of ZGF’s work for the Franciscan Health System, which includes two new greenfield hospitals and over 40 master planning, renovation and expansion projects. Mess is a frequent speaker at conferences, including the AIA Architecture for Health Panel.
