Society to Recognize Industry Leaders Demonstrating Design Excellence, Advancing the Profession
The American Society of Interior Designers is now accepting nominations for its 2015 National Awards. Considered the Society’s highest honors, these annual awards recognize the best in interior design. Individual awards include Designer of Distinction, Design for Humanity, Design Innovation and the Nancy Vincent McClelland Merit. Each award recognizes individuals and/or organizations that advance the profession and actively demonstrate the impact of interior design on the human experience.
“These awards represent the highest level of excellence in the interior design community, honoring those who, throughout their careers, have made significant contributions to the advancement of the profession through Evidence-Based Design, social responsibility, health and well-being and innovation,” said ASID National Chair Stephanie Clemons, Ph.D., FASID, FIDEC. “We encourage everyone to take this opportunity to nominate individuals, firms, manufacturers and design leaders making an impact and changing the interior design profession for the better.”
The deadline for nominations, which must be submitted using the Society’s short online form, is Jan. 5. ASID will contact eligible nominees directly to request portfolios of work.
The ASID national awards include:
Designer of Distinction — Honors an ASID professional member who, over the course of his or her interior design career, has established a body of superior work demonstrating creativity, excellence and innovation that has helped to transform lives. This is the premier award for personal achievement and social consciousness in the interior design field.
Design for Humanity — Celebrates an individual or institution for contributions to improving the human experience through environmentally friendly and wellness-focused interior design projects or activities that demonstrate far-reaching impact.
Design Innovation — Recognizes an individual, institution, manufacturer or research team for producing an innovative project, product or body of work that contributes significantly to advancing the field of interior design.
Nancy Vincent McClelland Merit — Honors an individual, organization, manufacturer or research team for outstanding support of the interior design profession. First presented in 2011, the award pays tribute to the accomplishments of McClelland, an ardent advocate for professional recognition, who was the first woman president of the American Institute of Decorators (now ASID) from 1941 to 1944.
Award winners will be honored at Celebration: The ASID Awards Gala, July 18, 2015, in Boston, Massachusetts. To submit a nomination or to view profiles of previous award winners, visit www.asid.org/awards.
