LOS ANGELES — Supermodel Heidi Klum, actress Jamie Lee Curtis, “Dancing with the Stars” champion Jennifer Grey and actress Melanie Griffith will join with the local community to participate in a 5K walk, street party and lighting celebration on Saturday, April 30 to commemorate the opening of the 317-bed new hospital building at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. The new hospital will open to patients on July 10.

More than 2,000 hospital staff, patients, families and Angelenos will take part in Walk for Kids, a 5K walk beginning in Griffith Park at 5 p.m. that will raise donations for the hospital. Walkers will travel through the neighborhoods of Los Feliz to the front of the hospital’s entrance at 4650 Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood, where the road will be closed down for a private street party and ceremony to “Turn on the Lights” in the new building.

“I’m thrilled to be part of Walk for Kids and am proud to support Children’s Hospital Los Angeles,” said Klum, who will serve as honorary Celebrity Ambassador for the event. “I encourage the local community to join us in support of one of the best children’s hospitals in the U.S.” To view Klum’s donation page for the Walk, go to: www.chla.org/heidi. Klum is an international supermodel and actress, and currently hosts the TV shows “Project Runway” and “Seriously Funny Kids,” which will feature patients from Children’s Hospital Los Angeles in an upcoming episode. Both programs air on the Lifetime television network.

At the conclusion of the 5K walk in front of the new hospital, participants will enter a family-friendly street party with music, entertainment, interactive activities and complimentary food and drinks from iconic and diverse Los Angeles restaurants. The evening will end with the new hospital building lighting up the sky as it is revealed with a dazzling light show. To sign up for the festivities, go to CHLA.org/WALK.
