HOUSTON, Texas — Sandy McElligott, MBA, RN, NE-BC was recently hired into the FKP Advisors consulting practice. McElligott’s 26 years of healthcare delivery with Texas Children’s Hospital, where she held positions ranging from staff nurse to senior vice president, will expand FKP Advisors’ substantive knowledge of trends, drivers and success factors transforming pediatric healthcare design.

McElligott_SandyMcElligott spent the past six years working in women’s, fetal and newborn health delivery. Most recently, she was responsible for successfully administrating the opening of the new 15-story, $575-million Texas Children’s Pavilion for Women designed by FKP Architects. McElligott ensured key policies and procedures were created to support safe patient care and facility transition, clinical staff training using in situ simulation and workflow testing in the new environment prior to opening.

McElligott also demonstrated clinical and administrative leadership in the development and execution of several strategic initiatives. The most recent initiative involved developing the institution’s perinatal strategy for high-risk obstetrics, including startup of the new Fetal Center. McElligott was responsible for the Fetal Center’s clinical and operational program development, as well as the development of the comprehensive medical team consisting of maternal fetal medicine, pediatric surgery, fetal cardiology and fetal radiology.

Earlier in her career, McElligott developed several community-based strategies across greater Houston, including clinical leadership for strategic planning, development and operation of the neonatal strategy.

McElligott is an alumnus of The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston where she received her bachelor’s degree in nursing, and she received her master’s in business administration from Texas A&M University in 2008. She is a member of The American Organization of Nurse Executives and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. McElligott is also an active trustee for the Good Samaritan Foundation.
