ClaryAbbie06-1002-gray_webAbigail Clary, AIA, ACHA, LEED AP, has joined HDR Architecture, Inc. as a healthcare principal in the Chicago architectural office. In this role, Abigail will maintain new and existing client relationships and strengthen HDR’s healthcare practice in Illinois and the surrounding states.

Prior to joining HDR, Clary co-led the healthcare marketing, public relations, and management efforts of Chicago-based Loebl Schlossman & Hackl. While at LSH, she was the youngest, and only the second female in the firm’s 85-year history to be made a principal. This accomplishment, coupled with industry awards, honors and design experience, placed her on Building Design + Construction’s 2010 list of “40 under 40” rising stars in the design industry.

Clary’s background is rooted in facility renovation, with the majority of her work being focused on updating aged healthcare facilities. She is skilled at creating solutions for tight spaces and believes in balancing operations, technology, and patient-centered care models to create an environment that best supports a patients healing process while equally supporting those providing care.

Abigail is an active member of the American Institute of Architects, Healthcare Engineers of Northern Illinois (HESNI), Construction Specifications Institute, Women Health Executives Network, and the American College of Healthcare Architects. She is an accomplished and respected speaker and had her article “A New Model for Treating Psychiatric Patients with Acute Medical Needs” published in the September 2009 issue of Chicago Hospital News.

“Abigail has been recognized with a number of well-deserved management and project excellence awards, and exudes a passion for design that complements HDR’s design culture,” said Doug Wignall, director of HDR’s healthcare program. “With Abigail at the helm, I look forward to seeing our healthcare practice continue to expand in Illinois and beyond.”
