May Architecture is opening an office in Jacksonville, Florida to support healthcare and higher education innovation across the Southeast. Erin Holubeck Burres, NCIDQ, RID, has been hired to spearhead the new office. She will be joined by senior architect Christopher Upton, FAAMA, LEED AP. Both will serve as healthcare practice leaders.
Burres brings more than 25 years of national healthcare design and leadership experience. She understands innovative design starts with strong relationships — with spaces, processes and most importantly, with people. She offers a collaborative mindset and a passion for integrated design, working closely with clients to create solutions that are responsible and responsive.

Upton is a seasoned healthcare design professional dedicated to creating environments that elevate patient care and clinical outcomes. A fellow of the American Academy of Medical Administrators, he chaired the American Hospital Association’s Healthcare Design Guideline Committee from 1991-2015.
