Cincinnati Children’s Eastgate in Cincinnati, Ohio has opened. The new facility replaces two former neighborhood clinics that closed at the end of October. It offers specialty clinics, outpatient surgery and urgent care to families in Clermont, as well as other counties along the Ohio 32 corridor to the east, parts of Northern Kentucky and West Virginia. The project team included Messer and GBBN.
Cincinnati Children’s invested $90 million in the Eastgate location, which includes design, construction and equipment, as well as the $5 million purchase of the 20-acre site in 2012. The two-story, 111,000 square-foot building occupies 10 acres, with another 5 acres reserved for expansion.
Key services include:
- Outpatient surgery
- Urgent care
- Sports medicine & sports physical therapy
- Speech language pathology, audiology & ophthalmology
- Behavioral health
- Ambulatory specialty clinics
- MRI & radiology
- Pharmacy
The facility’s design establishes a new exterior identity for neighborhood facilities—one that both feels recognizable and responds to this site. Textures and colors convey a playful sensibility appropriate for patients from infancy through young adulthood, while interior design elements create an environment that feels supportive, uplifting and distinctly Cincinnati Children’s. Soft, rounded edges, the interplay of light and shadow and spaces for movement — like the central stair and connecting outdoor walking paths — evoke an understanding of how children learn and heal through play.
