Hospitals are leveraging energy-efficient systems and clean power to strengthen their ability to serve their communities. These proactive approaches help them adapt and thrive despite a challenging landscape – including a summer marked by heat waves, wildfires and flooding, plus the recent cuts to many federal programs.
Practice Greenhealth partners Grady Memorial Hospital, Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital and Jackson South Medical Center spent much of the last year uncovering innovative energy efficiency, sustainability and resilience opportunities. This cohort is supported by a partnership between Health Care Without Harm, America’s Essential Hospitals and Oakwell, and funded by the Wells Fargo Foundation and The Commonwealth Fund.
The cohort focused on essential hospitals, which are indispensable for millions of Americans, including the 9.3 million people who don’t have access to health insurance. Read the full story on how these hospitals demonstrate that with creative problem-solving and strategic partnerships, essential hospitals can build resilience while reducing costs, creating a roadmap that other healthcare institutions can follow.
