ACHA Honors Doug Erickson for Lifelong Dedication to Safe and Effective Healthcare Design

Douglas S. Erickson, FASHE, has been awarded the 2024 ACHA Presidential Citation from the American College of Healthcare Architects. This award is bestowed upon individuals who have demonstrated significant contributions over their career toward advancing the art and science of healthcare architecture.

Erickson’s contributions and expertise in healthcare facilities planning, design and construction span nearly 50 years. His career has included his role as the principal advocate representing the American Hospital Association/American Society for Healthcare Engineering membership for 26 years on national codes, standards and built environment committees.

His tireless dedication to improving the built environment in health and residential care settings is more recently exemplified through his leadership and vision in the development and evolution of the Facility Guidelines for Design and Construction of Hospitals, Outpatient Facilities and Residential Health, Care, and Support Facilities.
