    AIA Selects 10 Projects for Healthcare Design Awards

    The American Institute of Architects’ Academy of Architecture for Health is recognizing 10 projects with its 2023 Healthcare Design Awards.

    The annual awards honor cutting-edge designs that help solve aesthetic, civic, urban and social problems, while also being functional and sustainable. Eligible projects include healthcare building design, healthcare planning and healthcare design-oriented research. To see the winning projects and to learn more, visit aia.org.

    This year’s projects were awarded by a six-person jury in the following categories:

    Category A: Built: Less than $25 million (construction cost)

    Broadway Youth Center, Chicago, Illinois, designed by Wheeler Kearns Architects

    Family Tree Clinic, Minneapolis, Minnesota, designed by Perkins&Will

    Fora Health, Portland, Oregon, designed by Holst Architecture

    OhioHealth Neuroscience Wellness Center, Columbus, Ohio, designed by Gensler

    Category B: Built: More than $25 million (construction cost)

    Alleghany Health Network Wexford Hospital, Wexford, Pennsylvania, designed by HKS

    Parkland Moody Outpatient Center,  Dallas, Texas, designed by HKS

    Sarasota Memorial Hospital-Venice, Venice, Florida, designed by Flad Architects

    Seattle Children’s Building Care: Diagnostic and Treatment Facility, Seattle, Washington, designed by ZGF Architects

    VA Worcester Community-Based Outpatient Clinic, Worcester, Massachusetts, designed by SmithGroup

    Category C: Renovations/Remodeled: Built within existing hospital, clinical space or adaptive reuse of an existing building to healthcare use

    Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center Children’s Hospital vertical expansion, Hershey, Pennsylvania, designed by Payette
