Perkins&Will welcomes applicants for the 2023-24 E. Todd Wheeler Fellowship. The fellowship challenges the next generation of healthcare design and planning graduates to innovate. Applications will be accepted between Dec. 5-Jan. 6.
Fellows will be placed in a U.S. Perkins&Will studio location. Fellows who successfully complete the year-long fellowship will have an opportunity to continue their careers with the company.
Graduates who have earned a Master of Architecture, Master of Interior Design or degree from an accredited design and health program who have a passion and demonstrated interest in healthcare design that might be illustrated by having completed one or more on the following list are eligible for consideration:
- a certificate in healthcare design
- research project in healthcare design
- a competition entry with healthcare as a focus
- healthcare-related portfolio project or thesis
The fellowship duration is one calendar year starting June 2023. Fellows will work under the direction of a healthcare leader and will work closely with senior healthcare planners and designers on significant healthcare projects. Responsibilities include participation in client meetings, project design and planning and documentation.
Each fellow will conduct one research project during the fellowship year. In addition, each fellow will attend one national healthcare conference as part of the award (pending the availability of conferences due to the pandemic). Fellows will also have the opportunity to meet and network with each other.
The fellow may also provide design, technical and marketing assistance throughout the building design process, including programming, preparation of design and construction documents, presentation materials, schematic design, design development and contract documents, model building, renderings and construction administration activities with routine guidance.
