Telemedicine and Future of Health Facilities Design Explored in New Research Report
Madison Lesmeister, graduate research scholar at Texas A&M University, along with Joseph G. Sprague, Ronald L. Skaggs and George J. Mann, have completed an exploratory research and design project, funded by the Sprague Foundation, regarding telemedicine and the consequent changing the future of health facilities design.
Through real-world scenarios, prospective architecture and architectural design guidelines, this study, a survey of existing and successful telehealth facilities, proposes future solutions for virtual healthcare sites through research and design-based studio projects. Ultimately as architects progress in the future of designing for health, outcome-based care needs to translate to outcome-based design.
