HKS Named IIDA Best of Competition Award Winner for Work on Texas Health Frisco Hospital

The Best of Competition winner for the 2021 IIDA Healthcare Design Awards is HKS Architects for the Texas Health Frisco Hospital. The firm was chosen from those honored, including nine firms across eight categories, and was also named the winner of the competition’s Community Hospitals category.

Projects were reviewed by a panel of healthcare design professionals, including NYU Langone Medical Center Assistant Project Manager Elsie St. Léger, Assoc. IIDA, WELL AP; Tarpaulin Studio Interior Design Lead Anne Cunningham, FIIDA, Assoc. AIA and Gresham Smith interior designer Lakiesha Stanley, IIDA.

“Each winning project showcases an exemplary demonstration of both meaningful design and innovative healthcare functionality,” said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA. “HKS Architects created a thoughtful space that allows room not only for practical considerations, but also for the revolutionary power of nature, sunlight and color as tools aiding the healing process.”

All winning projects can be viewed on IIDA.org.
