Brian Martin, AIA, NCARB, EDAC, LEED AP, has been hired as director of healthcare for Page’s East Region. He will be based out of the firm’s Washington, D.C. office.
Martin has led design teams in the development of complex healthcare projects varying in scale. Over the course of his career, he has moved from designing buildings to developing processes focused on client’s specific project goals. He strives to provide facilities that empower clients to operate a system of environments that are both integrated and customizable.
Martin believes healthcare facilities need to be structurally homogeneous enough to address big problems of payer markets, population health and wellness, but also flexible enough to embrace diverse care cultures so they can be implemented, maintained and thrive.
He was drawn to healthcare design early in his career because the complexity, rich programming and rigid structure of the projects all drive his creativity. Even within the same project type, numerous variables related to client needs require measured solutions to address differing design challenges. Martin explains his success comes from focusing efforts on defining the design problem for clients so their investment will have a lasting and significant impact, and empower staff.
