The South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center Board authorized the sale of bonds to build a $23 million hospital north of town. They also approved a reliminary official statement on the sale Monday night. The action, which had been expected, is the first of three steps in getting the bonds sold.
The next steps occurred at meetings following the board meeting — a meeting of the Arkansas City Public Building Commission at 6:30 p.m., followed immediately at 7 by a meeting of the city commission.
The PBC considered issuing the bonds and leasing the property to the City of Arkansas City. At the city commission meeting, the roulette online city considered subleasing to the hospital board, which will make the bond payments for the new hospital.
Hospital bond counsel Chuck Boully addressed the board before the action was taken. He told board members that by approving the sale, they would be authorizing the marketing of bonds not to exceed $24 million, with an interest rate not to exceed 6.9 percent.
