ORLANDO, Fla. — Carlos Marcet, AIA, ACHA, EDAC, LEED AP, has joined Gresham, Smith and Partners as a senior architect and principal in the firm’s healthcare market. Marcet brings more than three decades of architecture experience related to the planning, design and project management of healthcare facilities across the country. He was formerly partner and director of HHCP Architects, Inc.’s Healthcare Studio in Orlando. Marcet will be based in Orlando, Fla. and will enhance GS&P’s firmwide healthcare resources with a focus on growing client services in Central and South Florida, as well as Latin America.

In my new role at GS&P, I’m committed to the continued improvement of the healing environments offered to Florida’s communities and I look forward to partnering with clients, both previous and new, to provide these services.”

Prior to his time at HHCP Architects, Inc., Marcet was vice president, senior healthcare planner and designer at HKS Architects, Inc., in Orlando. His portfolio includes a vast range of healthcare design projects including community hospitals, bed tower expansions and renovations, medical office buildings and various specialized outpatient treatment centers. Marcet recently served as medical planner for an 80-bed tower expansion at Florida Hospital East Orlando, a 142-bed tower expansion at Orlando Health’s Dr. P. Phillips Hospital and an 80-bed tower expansion at Health First’s Palm Bay Hospital.
Marcet, a native of Cuba, earned a Bachelor of Design degree in architecture and a Master of Arts degree in architecture from the University of Florida. He is a licensed architect in the state of Florida. He also holds certification from the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, the American College of Healthcare Architects and the Center for Health Design’s Evidence-Based Design Accreditation and Certification, and is LEED accredited by the U.S. Green Building Council. Outside of the office, Marcet volunteers his time with Florida Hospital’s Global Missions Initiative in Haiti and Kibale Uganda Development Union Home of the Holy Angels in Uganda, providing pro bono design services to improve the countries’ healthcare facilities.
