HOUSTON, Texas – All nine employees of Houston, Texas-based structural engineering firm Ingenium, Inc., have joined HOK.

The addition of Ingenium’s expertise bolsters HOK’s existing structural engineering practice. HOK’s firm-wide engineering group includes 65 structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineers.

“Anu Mahendra and his Ingenium team will make significant contributions to our work with clients in Texas and around the globe,” said HOK Chief Operating Officer Tom Robson, AIA, LEED AP BD+C. “When HOK’s architects partner with our engineers, we can deliver the most creative, sustainable and cost-effective design solutions.”

“Offering clients integrated architecture and engineering teams supports our goal of using design excellence to provide the best return on investment for building owners,” said HOK Director of Engineering Nancy Hamilton, SE, PE. “Anu is a recognized leader in the structural engineering profession with a remarkable history of designing all types of high-performance buildings. We are excited about this significant expansion to our engineering team.”

HOK has worked with Ingenium on Houston-area projects including office buildings at Shell’s Woodcreek Campus Phase 3 and several projects for Chevron.

“After collaborating with HOK for nearly a decade, we are thrilled to join the firm and to have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects globally,” said former Ingenium President Anu Mahendra, SE, PE. “Working side-by-side with HOK’s design teams will enable us to provide clients truly integrated solutions and the most intelligent, economic building systems.”

Mahendra will join Senior Vice President Ed Abboud as co-director of HOK’s structural engineering practice in Houston.

Current HOK structural engineering projects include the Wishard Health Services Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis, Ind.; the Washington University Medical Center Campus Renewal Project in St. Louis, Mo.; the JFK International Airport Terminal 4, Phase 2, in New York, N.Y.; the Salt Lake City International Airport Terminal Modernization Program in Salt Lake City, Utah and embassies around the world.
