Seattle Children’s has opened its newest regional clinic, Seattle Children’s North Clinic, which provides convenient access to pediatric specialty care services for families in north King, Snohomish, Whatcom and Skagit counties in the state of Washington. The 37,000-square-foot clinic is located on Providence Regional Medical Center Everett’s Colby Campus.
The new 36,600-square-foot clinic offers more than 18 pediatric subspecialties including audiology, cardiology, orthopedics, sports medicine and endocrinology. Urgent care services will be available seven days a week. The project also includes a 78-stall underground parking garage for staff and a 76-stall surface parking lot for patients.
Clad in textured brick, the one-story North Clinic complements the brick façades of the adjacent Providence campus and central utility plant next door. Perforated metal panels on the front side of the building frame the colorful canopy that greets patients and their families. Seattle Children’s brand colors are expressed playfully in round windows of varying sizes on all sides of the clinic. A wall of glass infuses the interior with natural light.
The clinic was designed with a focus on patient flow to ensure that patients and their families are seen quickly and efficiently. Open-plan caregiver work areas are located between patient exam rooms to increase provider interaction and reduce the number of steps providers need to travel.
The interior design pays homage to Everett’s maritime legacy through ocean-themed wall graphics and motifs that tie together with Seattle Children’s branding. Each corridor features colors and design elements to aid in wayfinding. Building on the South Clinic prototype, the North Clinic includes the same number of exam and specialty treatment rooms and physical therapy spaces.
A functional gym with a basketball court allows patients to practice physical therapy, sports medicine and sports physical therapy to recover from sports injuries and other physical conditions. The clinic includes a sibling’s room so that parents can be with their children during medical appointments while other siblings play.
A staff lounge and conference room are also included.
