HONOLULU, Hawaii — Marni T. Murdock, ACHA, LEED-AP, principal at Architects Hawaii Ltd., recently attained an Evidence-based Design Accreditation and Certification. She is one of two professionals in Hawaii holding this certification.
The Center for Health Design’s EDAC program awards credentials to individuals who demonstrate a thorough understanding of how to apply an evidence-based process to the design and development of healthcare settings, including measuring and reporting results. Murdock has extensive experience with more than 20 years in healthcare and laboratory design involving facility planning and knowledge of complex equipment. Her recent and past projects include working with the Hawai‘I Pacific Health, Kaiser Permanente, Queen’s Development Corporation and Hawai‘i Health Systems Corporation.
A large and growing body of credible evidence attests to the fact that physical environment impacts patient stress, patient and staff safety, staff effectiveness and quality of care provided in hospitals and other healthcare settings. Applying the process of Evidence-Based Design to achieve the best possible patient, staff and operational outcomes allows healthcare design to positively evolve at a time when healthcare delivery is faced with unprecedented challenges.
