400+ Person Pink Hard Hat Ribbon Creates Visual Kick-Off for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
HAYWARD, Calif. – EMCOR Group, Inc. recently announced that 400+ employees of its Marelich Mechanical subsidiary and those of its client Kaiser Permanente donned Pink Hard Hats and formed a pink ribbon, the international symbol of breast cancer awareness, in a “Call to Action” in support of Breast Cancer screening and awareness as part of EMCOR’s campaign:“Protect Yourself. Get Screened Today.” The event, which was the fourth largest human pink ribbon ever formed in the U.S., was held at the construction site of Kaiser Permanente’s new medical center in San Leandro, California.
n official EMCOR Pink Hard Hat was presented to Kaiser Permanente’s Debbie Hemker, COO, Hayward Medical Center; Robert Greenberg, M.D. physician-in-chief; and Calvin Wheeler, M.D., physician-in-chief, by Marelich Mechanical President & CEO Keith Atteberry as part of the event. Also, all Marelich Mechanical employees and workers from Rudolph & Sletten, the general contractor on the project, and subcontractors on the project, removed their regular hard hats and replaced them with Pink Hard Hats in a “Call to Action” for millions of women and men to “Protect Yourself. Get Screened Today.”
Additionally, for the first time ever to occur on a construction site, all workers at the Kaiser Permanente San Leandro Medical Center construction site will wear Pink Hard Hats throughout October as an ongoing reminder to the community of the importance of breast cancer screening.
“We’re delighted to participate in EMCOR’s 4th consecutive year of conducting this national initiative,” stated Keith Atteberry.
