CHICAGO, Ill. — Matthei & Colin Associates completed the design for the Orthopedic and Neurological bed addition at Holland Hospital located in Holland, Mich. The progressive upgrades offer the west Michigan Lakeshore community more advanced healthcare and are an important step of the updating and redesigning healthcare facility project. The total multi-phase healthcare facility plan added 24 private beds.

This wing is designed with the capacity to expand vertically with two more floors. The project is a vertical addition to an existing building originally designed by M&CA. Construction is scheduled to start in August 2012. Also recently completed by M&CA: the new 30-bed critical care/step-down unit, expanded nursery services, a new cafeteria and redesigned main hospital entrance.

“We have been working with Holland Hospital for more than 10 years and these new additions enhance the quality of healthcare to the community,” said Randall Bacidore, AIA, and design partner of Matthei & Colin Associates located in Chicago.

For seven years in a row, Holland Hospital has been recognized as a Thomson Reuters 100 Top Hospitals. The commitment of r medical staff and the employees provides health and wellness services that rank in excellence among the top 2 percent of all hospitals in the country.
