Data Collection Begins for Healthcare Benchmarking Survey
The report is a combined effort of the largest North American organizations in healthcare:
- American Society for Healthcare Engineering
- Health Care Institute/International Facilities Management Association
- Canadian Healthcare Engineering Society
- Practice Greenhealth
A free webinar is being held on July 25 to explain the new, online data entry system and value of participating. To register, visit http://hci.ifma.org.
Data in the report gives managers the ability to compare facilities with other healthcare organizations in the areas of utilities, maintenance, environmental services, waste and linen operations.
An important benefit of the report is the fact the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services will soon require hospitals to verify quality of care, operational performance and fiscal efficiency, explains Todd Wilkening, Benchmarking 2.0 Chairman. Wilkening is director of facilities at Ridgeview Medical Center in Minnesota.
Serving on the benchmarking committee are:
- Ron Kalich, national facilities director, Kaiser Permanente, representing IFMA Health Care Institute
- Dennis Smith, director/facilities, Catholic Health Initiatives, representing ASHE
- Steve Rees, vice president/capital management, Alberta Health Services, representing CHES
- Todd Wilkening, director/facilities, Ridgeview Medical Center, Benchmarking 2.0 Chairman
