CINCINNATI, Ohio — Mercy Health – Anderson Hospital will add a new patient tower that will provide much-needed space for all private patient rooms and the continued growth of the hospital.
The design phase is getting started now and Mercy Health expects construction on the $75-million project to start as early as the fourth quarter of this year.
“We are excited to reinvest in the community and continue our efforts to better serve our patients,” said Gyasi C. Chisley, site administrator for Anderson Hospital. “This project will help us improve the level of comfort and privacy we provide for our patients, while also creating more space for new healthcare services that build on our comprehensive care.”
Anderson Hospital provides a full range of care that includes open heart surgery, maternity care, cancer care, an orthopaedic center of excellence and the center for women’s health.
“We are continuing to raise the level and scope of care we provide,” said Stephen Feagins, MD, vice president of medical affairs at Anderson Hospital. “We want to ensure residents across the East Side of Cincinnati can receive all of the expert care they need to be well without having to leave the area.”
The tower will add new patient rooms that will allow the hospital to go to all private patient rooms.
“This is vitally important in the future of healthcare,” said Julie Holt, Chief Nursing Officer at Anderson Hospital. “We will develop the new patient rooms with all of the latest advancements in healthcare design, as well as the expertise that our physicians and staff can provide; they will be included in the design process.”
Mercy Health is still finalizing plans, but highlights of the new patient tower include the following:
- Mercy Health will build the tower at the front of the hospital, creating a new main entrance.
- The tower will be seven stories tall (eight stories including the mechanical floor)
- The tower will provide more than 160,000 square feet of added space that will allow the hospital to provide all private rooms for patients
- It will feature a new Acute Rehabilitation Unit (this is a new service at the hospital that will add another 24 new patient rooms/beds)
- The new tower will have a total of 118 new private patient rooms, with one open floor for a future 32-bed inpatient unit
- It will have the latest advancements in healthcare design to provide a healing environment
- The project will also add additional parking
The lead design firm for the project will be AECOM, which is also designing the new Mercy Health – West Hospital in Green Township.
