David_HanitchakNBBJ announces the addition of David Hanitchak, RA, to its international healthcare practice as a principal and practice leader. He will be based out of the firm’s Boston, Mass. office. Hanitchak will work alongside a team of architects, registered nurses, anthropologists and workplace researchers to support hospitals and health systems on business challenges that demand a combination of strategic, operational and facility advice.

NBBJ’s services focus on strategic planning for clinical programs; developing cutting-edge, operationally efficient facilities and designing change-ready environments.

Hanitchak spent 26 years at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Mass. For the last 15 years he served as director of planning and construction at MGH and the executive director of the NBBJ-designed Lunder Building, a role that encompassed more than 200 capital master planning and construction projects annually.

In addition to the implementation of complex construction projects, he oversaw strategic, capital and facilities planning; operational improvement and program development. Hanitchak’s portfolio includes the development of the MGH Institutional Master Plan, and innovative projects such as the obstetrics program, the Ambulatory Practice of the Future, the simulation center, the Operating Room of the Future and the Paul S. Russell, MD, Museum of Medical History and Innovation.
