Gresham, Smith and Partners recently announced that Luis J. Cano, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, EDAC, was named senior vice president in charge of the firm’s Ft. Lauderdale office. Cano brings more than 25 years of experience in architecture, with a specialty in complex healthcare projects. He is providing operational and marketing leadership on a local and regional level for the firm’s comprehensive design and planning services.

Cano’s professional background includes significant experience in the healthcare project-management field, having performed as principal-in-charge, senior project manager and architect-of-record for many large healthcare projects. Cano is a member of the American Institute of Architects and a supporting member of the Florida Healthcare Engineering Association.
GS&P first opened its Ft. Lauderdale office in 1995 and since has produced numerous award-winning designs for a variety of client types including healthcare, corporate and aviation. Recent projects include design services for the Dorothy Mangurian Women’s Center at Holy Cross HealthPlex in Hollywood, Fla. as well as Lakeside Medical Center in Belle Glade, Fla., Memorial Hospital West and Memorial Hospital Miramar.
