Taylor Design Hires Edmund Einy as Director of Architecture

IRVINE, Calif. – Architect Edmund M. Einy, FAIA has joined Taylor Design. Serving as firm-wide director of architecture based in the company’s Irvine, California office, Einy brings more than three decades of design and leadership experience creating forward-thinking structures and collaborative partnerships in healthcare, academic, government and commercial industries.

Formerly principal/director of design at gkkworks Architects, Einy has held several senior-level design and leadership positions at architecture firms in Southern California. Throughout his career, he has served as a trusted partner to clients such as the Department of Veterans Affairs, Metropolitan Water District, University of California, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Kaiser Permanente, Los Angeles Superior Court and a variety of community colleges in the state, among others. His notable body of work has garnered more than 35 regional and national AIA design awards.

With a strong social purpose and creative drive, Einy says the buildings he designs represent the values of the people who occupy them, the institutions they symbolize and the communities of which they become a part. Committed to the design of socially responsible buildings, Einy co-led the Sustainability Leadership and AIA + 2030 committee for the purpose of training architects to significantly reduce the energy use of their buildings.

Einy has served as an instructor at the University of Southern California and the Southern California Institute of Architecture. He is also a visiting critic at UCLA, USC, Cal Poly Pomona, California College of the Arts, Southern California Institute of Architecture and Pasadena City College. Einy’s additional industry involvement includes serving as a juror for various architecture award competitions, chairman and committee member for 10 years on the American Institute of Architects Los Angeles design awards and a member of the executive board of directors for the AIA Los Angeles from 2004-08.

In recognition of his contributions to architecture and society, Einy was elevated to the College of Fellows by the National Chapter of the AIA in 2010 and was named a representative of the AIA/LA 100 Years/100 Los Angeles Architects in 1995.
