Cincinnati Children’s Hospital —Location T—Clinical Sciences Pavilion in Ohio was recently named an Alliant Build America Award winner by the Associated General Contractors of America. The awards highlight the nation’s most significant construction projects. Projects were evaluated based on complexity, use of innovative construction techniques and client satisfaction, among other criteria.
Awarded in the category of new buildings over $200 million, the pavilion was built by Messer Construction Co. and designed by GBBN Architects. The facility “bridges the gap between research and clinical care.” Messer accomplished and exceeded it goals through Integrated Project Delivery, harnessing the talents of multidisciplinary teams to reduce waste and optimize efficiency through all phases of design and construction. With all eight IPD team stakeholders co-located, the team was more readily able to discuss issues and develop solutions. The end result is a 446,500-square-foot facility standing at the center of the hospital’s campus; at 15+ stories tall, it rises above all other hospital and neighborhood buildings making it a beacon in the community.
