ASHE Members Honored for Achievements During Annual Conference

The American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) of the American Hospital Association (AHA) recently honored members during the opening session of its 48th Annual Conference and Technical Exhibition in Seattle, Wash. The 2011 awards recipients include:

Crystal Eagle
The Crystal Eagle recipient is Thomas L. Stewart, MBA, SASHE, CHFM, CHC, of Southern Illinois Healthcare in Carbondale, Ill. This is the highest award that can be bestowed upon an ASHE member and recognizes one outstanding ASHE member per year for his or her excellent leadership qualities, innovation, and overall contribution to ASHE and the health care engineering and facility management industry.


Emerging Regional Leaders
The Emerging Regional Leader award is presented to one individual from each of ASHE’s 10 regions who has shown a commitment to the field and demonstrated leadership qualities.

Region 2 – Kenneth Neil Wagner, CHFM, Heritage Valley Health System, Sewickley, Penn.

Region 4 – Steve Reed, CHFM, Northwest Medical Center, Winfield, Ala.

Region 7 – Matthew B. Webber, CHFM, Texas Children’s Hospital, Houston

President’s Award
The President’s Award is presented by the current ASHE president to an individual who has made significant advancements to our profession and has gone above and beyond the call of duty in an effort to optimize the health care physical environment. The 2010 President’s Award was presented to the ASHE staff, Chicago.

Excellence in Healthcare Facility Management
This award recognizes an individual, or facility management department, who has implemented new and/or innovative programs or processes and was presented to Memorial Hermann Healthcare System in Houston.

Fellow Status
Fellow status (FASHE) is granted to ASHE active members who have achieved Senior status and continue to demonstrate commitment to the health care facility management profession. The status recognizes the individual’s contribution to the field through leadership, education, and publishing. This year, the following individuals earned Fellow status:

Senior Status
Senior status (SASHE) is granted to an ASHE active member demonstrating commitment to the health care facility management profession and recognizes his or her contribution to the industry through leadership, education, and publishing. This year the following ASHE members earned Senior status:
