ANAHEIM, Calif. — The DPR-Turner Construction Company joint venture is breaking ground on a 140-bed, five-story acute care Universal Health Services, Inc. hospital in Temecula, Calif. Designed by HMC Architects, the 178,000-square-foot project on 37 acres will serve residents of South Riverside County.

The DPR-Turner Construction Company joint venture team is providing contracting services for the new UHS Temecula Valley Hospital. The project will feature all private rooms, a 20-bed intensive care unit (ICU), six high tech surgical suites, digital imaging, an advanced electronic clinical information system, and a Consolidated Treatment Unit.

This unique emergency department will allow expansion when needed and a space for patients to prepare for procedures. The project is anticipated to be complete in the summer of 2013.

The UHS Temecula Valley Hospital will be built using lean construction techniques. This method allows the owner, architect, and contractor to participate in the design and decision-making process. This collaboration will result in an accelerated construction timeline and reduced costs. Certain components will be prefabricated offsite to minimize labor and installation time, and there will be a multi-trade sharing of tasks such as hoisting, cleaning, material handling and layout.

UHS Temecula Valley Hospital brings together two strong construction companies, DPR Construction and Turner Construction Company. Each brings a unique set of strengths and resources to the partnership. The collaboration will allow for the best construction technology and strongest team to be assembled for the project.

Turner Construction Company is the leading general builder in the U.S., ranking first or second in all major segments of the building construction field. For more information, visit www.turnerconstruction.com/southerncalifornia.

DPR Construction is a national general contractor and construction manager specializing in technically complex and sustainable projects for the advanced technology, life sciences, healthcare, higher education and corporate office markets.  For more information, visit www.dpr.com.
