After seven years as president and chief operating officer at Northwest Hospital and senior vice president of parent corporation, LifeBridge Health, in Baltimore, Md., Erik G. Wexler has accepted the position of president and CEO of Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, Mass., a for-profit institution owned by Vanguard Health of Tennessee.
During his tenure, LifeBridge Health earned a spot on “FORTUNE” magazine’s 2010 list of 100 Best Companies to Work For and “Baltimore Business Journal’s “Best Places to Work in Greater Baltimore”- in the large business category three times running. Northwest Hospital’s Subacute Care Unit also received a ranking of five stars overall in “U.S. News & World Report’s” 2011 Best Nursing Homes.
“Leaving Northwest Hospital and LifeBridge Health will be very difficult. I have truly come to feel that those I work with are extended family, and I care deeply about the future of the organization,” said Wexler. “But I leave at a time when Northwest Hospital’s outcomes and stability are at a high water mark. I believe the momentum of the institution will carry on given the outstanding staff, volunteers, physicians, board of directors and leadership that remain in place. There is no doubt in my mind that Northwest Hospital will redouble its efforts to become an even greater provider of care and community citizen.”
While at the hospital, Wexler also led a management team that orchestrated a $100 million facility improvement plan and brought new clinical services, specialties and physicians to this community acute care center.
“Erik has done a marvelous job for LifeBridge Health. Northwest Hospital has become one of the top performing institutions in Maryland and has truly flourished under his leadership with new programs and facilities that are among the best anywhere,” said Warren A. Green, president and CEO, of LifeBridge Health.
LifeBridge Health is one of the largest, most comprehensive providers of health services in northwest Baltimore. In addition to Northwest Hospital, it includes Sinai Hospital, Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital, Courtland Gardens Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and related subsidiaries and affiliates.
