Alan T. Baldwin, FAIA, has joined Perkins Eastman’s growing Charlotte, N.C., office as principal. Baldwin joins with more than 40 years of healthcare planning and design experience throughout the US. Prior to joining the firm, Baldwin led two major design firms, WBRC Architects & Engineers and FreemanWhite.
His project experience comprises consulting, planning and design. Under his leadership as president of FreemanWhite, the firm worked for some of the most respected health systems and hospitals across the country. He has provided his leadership expertise for the oversight for the construction and renovation of hospitals, surgery suites, radiation oncology, cath labs, outpatient centers, neuroscience centers, NICUs and emergency departments.

Baldwin received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Virginia Tech and he has served as president of the Maine State Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, the Maine State Architectural Licensing Board, the New England AIA Regional Council, the North Carolina Board of Architecture, and the Southern Conference of Architectural Registration Boards.
His award-winning work has been widely published, and he is recognized for his advocacy and expertise in the area of healthcare architectural planning, design, and construction for hospital, continuing care retirement communities, dementia, and wellness facilities that accommodate aging in place. He speaks frequently at national, regional and state conventions.
