GLASTONBURY, Conn. — On June 9, New Milford Hospital, part of the Western CT Health Network, opened the new Arnhold Emergency Department, a $12-million, 11,000-square-foot renovation and expansion project designed by The S/L/A/M Collaborative and constructed by O&G Industries.
Supported by a generous gift from the Arnhold family for which the facility is named, the new ED features eco-friendly design and offers New Milford’s community every advantage in lifesaving emergency care, including a larger and more efficient triage area where nurses can start medical treatments, set up X-rays and complete additional tests to expedite treatment. Other features include private patient rooms, a centralized nursing station, specialty care room and enhanced parking and vehicular circulation.
The new ED represents the largest expansion in the hospital’s history as it has doubled in size and is expected to serve more than 20,000 patients each year from Connecticut and Eastern New York State.
The former ED entrance located off of Route 202 on East Street is available for ambulance access only, providing much safer access by car from Elm Street. With a dedicated new entrance, patients and families arriving by car should enter and park via the Elm Street or Treadwell Avenue entrances.
