UT Southwestern Medical Center and Children’s Health announced Energy Transfer, an energy infrastructure company, and its management team have committed $15 million to support the new $5-billion pediatric campus under construction in the Southwestern Medical District in Dallas, Texas. The campus, a joint venture between UT Southwestern and Children’s Health, is being built across from UT Southwestern’s William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital and is expected to open in 2031.

Energy Transfer specializes in the transportation, storage and terminaling of natural gas, natural gas liquids, crude oil and refined products through more than 140,000 miles of pipelines and related assets that traverse 44 states, more than any other U.S. midstream company. Energy Transfer has nearly 900 employees in Dallas and over 16,000 worldwide.

The pediatric population in North Texas is expected to increase significantly by 2050, underscoring the need for expanded access to high-quality pediatric care. The new pediatric campus in Dallas, which broke ground in October 2024, will span more than 4.9 million square feet, anchored by Moody Children’s Hospital, which will feature 552 beds in three towers. Energy Transfer’s gift will be recognized by naming two family lounges and a patient floor in the new hospital.
