Leaders of Harris Health and the Harris Health Strategic Fund announced a $40-million commitment from The John M. O’Quinn Foundation to support Harris Health’s $2.5-billion bond-funded projects and a new hospital under construction in northeast Houston, Texas.
In recognition of the support, the new hospital will be named the Harris Health John M. O’Quinn Hospital. The announcement was made in front of 150 attendees during a topping-off ceremony for the new hospital, as the final steel beam was placed atop the 12-story structure. It is the largest gift ever received by Harris Health, to date, and is among the largest of its kind to a public healthcare system in the state.
The new hospital, slated to open in early 2029, will help meet the increasing demand for trauma and healthcare in Harris County, and will add clinical training opportunities for McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston and area nursing colleges. The project team includes McCarthy, HKS and JLL.
