SmithGroup has appointed Vince Avallone to director of medical planning, a newly established role within the firm’s health leadership team. He will guide medical planning and programming teams across the firm in partnering with clients to deliver planning and design solutions that create measurable impact.
Under his leadership, these teams will advance tools and processes that enhance efficiency, accelerate decision-making and raise the standard of design quality.
Avallone has been a driving force in medical planning for more than 30 years. He has led planning efforts for some of the nation’s most complex and high-profile hospital projects, including UC Davis Health California Tower, UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland, Highland Hospital acute tower replacement, Kaiser Permanente Railyards Medical Center, Advocate Illinois Masonic Center for Advanced Care, River People Health Center and Sutter Health/CPMC Van Ness Hospital.
