FGI University is starting the new year with its first three-part webinar series. Focusing on acoustics in healthcare, the learning event will be led by members of FGI’s Acoustics Proposal Review Committee and provide timely, authoritative guidance on acoustic requirements that directly affect healthcare planning and design decisions.
Participants will receive an early preview of the 2026 FGI Codes for Planning and Design, with focused discussion on key updates including exterior noise classifications, sound transmission criteria and vibration control.
A significant portion of the series examines the unique acoustic challenges of ambulatory care settings, where diverse care models, shorter patient stays, tenant-improvement projects and technology-enabled services such as telemedicine create conditions that differ markedly from inpatient environments. The discussion will address practical design considerations such as the appropriate use of white noise systems, strategies for exterior noise and vibration control and opportunities to exceed minimum requirements.
