Tampa General Hospital and local developer Darryl Shaw revealed plans to build a hospital, clinic and medical office building in east Ybor City, Florida. Tampa City Council considered and approved a comprehensive plan amendment for parcels owned by Shaw. The amendment opens up the potential for residential and commercial mixed-use development rather than solely industrial use.
Tampa General plans to construct a hospital and clinical offices, which would provide primary care and urgent care services. Scenarios for the two-block area consider the possibility of office space and ground-level retail space, along with the potential for hotel and residential units.
