Kraus-Anderson has begun a $13-million expansion project at Huron Regional Medical Center in Huron, South Dakota. Designed by Wold Architects and Engineers, the 7,500-square-foot addition will feature four new operating rooms, staff lockers and a lounge. The project also includes an 11,581-square-foot renovation of the existing operating room suite, endoscopy rooms and pre and post operating rooms, along with a new 19,081-square-foot a sterile processing area and support spaces. Construction is expected to be completed in November of 2026.
At a groundbreaking event, Dr. Kevin Hofer, an HRMC orthopedic surgeon, said the new surgical suites will be equipped with advanced tools and technologies that support precision and efficiency, along with space and tech to continue to grow and evolved. “The expansion represents more than an infrastructure improvement, it’s a leap forward, and how we care for our friends and neighbors.”
Erick Laron, HRMC’s president and CEO, added the new surgery expansion underscores how people don’t do things by themselves. “We see this as an opportunity to help our community and help each other with our healthcare needs.”
