GBBN’s Michael Grage and Kirsten Miller recently gave a presentation at the American Society for Healthcare Engineers’ Region 6 Conference on how the use of augmented reality benefits healthcare projects, utilizing a recent project as an example.
For a Children’s Minnesota renovation project, AR was leveraged to communicate the design and help stakeholders understand space at full scale. The project included redesigning the waiting, triage and fast-track processes in an existing emergency department. From macro to micro design decisions, AR helped guide a productive process and facilitated better understanding than drawings alone.
By enabling in-depth discussions across stakeholder groups, the intentional and experienced use of AR was integral to facilitating the process and finding the right solutions for everyone. A survey taken after using AR during schematic design showed 100% of the respondents stated AR helped them better understand the design concept. Read the full story here.
