Tower 2 at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, Merriam, Kansas, Renovation
Tower 2 originally was constructed in 1972, making it the oldest building on the AdventHealth Shawnee Mission campus. Recognizing a need to bring the building up to a modern standard of care, AdventHealth enlisted h|d Architecture and McCarthy Building Companies to update the facility’s interior and exterior.
Through careful planning and thorough communication, the team successfully completed a phased approach to renovating 144 patient rooms on levels two through five, allowing the hospital to maintain patient occupancy on one half of each floor while the other half underwent construction.
MetroHealth’s The Glick Center, Cleveland, Ohio, New Construction
The Glick Center, opened in 2022, anchors a decade-long campus transformation for MetroHealth, a public hospital and academic medical center in Cleveland and Ohio’s sole adult and pediatric trauma and burn center. Turner Construction Company and architect HGA deployed Lean, evidence-based and data-driven planning methods to realize MetroHealth’s vision.
The resulting 386-bed, 10-story hospital follows a process-neutral design approach to allow the facility to flex as needs change over the building’s lifetime. Various aspects of the project align with MetroHealth’s commitment to community well-being, including aiding in the establishment of the Latino Construction program and interior and exterior design elements that reflect the local culture and topography.
