The Facility Guidelines Institute and The Center for Health Design launched the Douglas S. Erickson Health Care Research Award to honor former FGI CEO Doug Erickson, FASHE, and his visionary leadership in healthcare design. The award will fund research that directly influences patient outcomes, enhances staff safety, and informs the development of the FGI code documents.
In June 2026, FGI and The Center will begin accepting applications from individuals across the public and private sectors who are passionate about healthcare design. The selected recipient(s) will then produce a peer-reviewed manuscript, present their findings at key industry events and contribute to the revision of the FGI code documents.
