Prefab Speeds Completion, Installation of 2 Identical Freestanding Emergency Departments
Ribbon cuttings celebrated the openings of two nearly identical freestanding emergency departments — one in Florida and one in Texas.
Manatee Memorial Hospital’s new 10,884-square-foot Manatee ER at Palma Sola, located in Bradenton, Florida, includes six exam rooms, three rapid medical spaces, a full-service laboratory, along with X-ray and ultrasound areas. South Texas Health System ER Pharr is a new 10,884-square-foot facility, located in Pharr, Texas. It will provide around-the-clock critical care for adult and pediatric patients, as well as diagnostic and laboratory services with limited wait times.
Both facilities were built using preassembled modular system that required intensive coordination with sitework and utilities. The construction teams were able to fully dry-in the buildings only 12 days after the modules arrived onsite. The overall schedule was six weeks faster than traditional construction.
Robins & Morton served as the general contractor for the projects. Giattina Aycock Architecture Studio was the architect.
