Healthcare Leadership Transitions Announced for DLR Group

Damian Huneycutt, AIA, ACHA, NCARB, has been named southeast healthcare client leader at DLR Group. A principal at the firm, Huneycutt assumes the role following the September 2024 retirement of longtime colleague and mentor DLR Group Principal John M. Beyer, AIA, NCARB. In his new role, he will oversee DLR Group’s relationships with healthcare clients in the Southeast.

With 22 years of experience in healthcare design, he brings to his new position a fresh perspective. Huneycutt’s areas of expertise include med/surg nursing units, behavioral health, skilled nursing, prefabrication and alternative methods to project delivery.

Always with a hard hat and set of boots in his truck, Huneycutt delivers designs that help physicians and nurses administer care, provide a better healing environment and allow patients and their family members to feel comfortable.

Concluding a 40-year career of influencing healthcare architecture in the Southeast, Beyer’s service to the healthcare industry has made an indelible mark. Beyer has been with DLR Group since 2021, following the acquisition of Wright McGraw Beyer Architects, a firm Beyer co-founded in 1996.

Under his leadership, WMBA became one of the leading healthcare planning and design firms in the Carolinas. For over four decades, Beyer’s leadership extended to thousands of projects and long-term partnerships with major healthcare systems and hospitals throughout the Southeast, including UNC Health Blue Ridge and Atrium Health.
