AMFP Greater NY Chapter Addresses How Healthcare Systems Use Real Estate During Panel Session

Association of Medical Facility Professionals Greater NY Chapter recently hosted an interactive session focused on innovation in institutional policy. Panelists described the factors that affect healthcare system decisions regarding targeted geography, size and type of real estate needed, whether the asset will be leased or acquired and the project delivery approach.

The session was held at CannonDesign’s office in New York City and moderated by Thomas Hickey, AIA, CannonDesign healthcare project architect and associate vice president. Panelists included:

  • Terron Browne, project manager, Design + Construction, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center
  • Nathan (Nate) Brzozowski, senior managing director, Integrated Consulting Strategies, Savills
  • Megan Guy, senior vice president of development, Simone Development

“Sometimes healthcare organizations come to us with a requirement to fill, and in other instances we are in the market and see opportunities that we bring to the institutions,” said Ms. Guy. “Real estate often moves faster than healthcare, so we rely on our relationships. That’s why Simone Development Companies focuses on partnering with healthcare organizations to meet their real estate needs.”

The Greater NY Chapter regularly hosts this series of programs that is both topical and conversational. The meetings start with some networking, move into informal discussions with selective guests and end with questions and answers between members and the speakers.

The Greater New York chapter (formerly New York City chapter) was established in the fall of 2020 and is the largest chapter of AMFP with over 500 members in the five boroughs of NYC, Long Island, Westchester and Hudson Valley. For more information, visit amfp.org.
