Ochsner Health has announced plans for The Gayle and Tom Benson Ochsner Children’s Hospital, made possible through a transformational gift from Gayle Benson. Current and projected needs of children and families throughout the New Orleans, Louisiana region have driven the plan for the new facility.
The Gayle and Tom Benson Ochsner Children’s Hospital, designed by HOK and Rozas Ward, will have a child-friendly and welcoming atmosphere, with colorful and engaging decor, age-appropriate accommodations and an efficient, easy-to-navigate layout.
The hospital will also have a children’s-only emergency department, with enhancements to critical care, operating rooms and imaging capacity and proximity. The planned five-story, 343,000-square-foot building will be constructed at Ochsner Medical Center-New Orleans next to the existing hospital.
Ochsner Children’s expects to break ground in mid-2024 and open the doors to its new home in late 2027. For more information, visit ochsner.org/newhomeforpediatrics.
