FESCO Energy has been awarded the first phase of a comprehensive, multi-phase microgrid resiliency project at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, Maryland. The project will provide power generation from onsite renewable sources and combined heat and power generation, EV charging and absorption chilling, all controlled through an intelligent microgrid controls platform.
Plans call for a combination of rooftop and ground-mount solar, a redundant CHP plant and 10 electric vehicle chargers. Later stages of the project will include energy- and water-efficiency upgrades to the campus to further improve operability and emissions.
Once complete, the project will reduce the medical center’s carbon footprint with all phases of the renewable power generation reducing approximately 2,000 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions.
