Gresham Smith’s interior design for the Sarah Cannon Lake Nona Drug Development Unit and Kaiser Permanente Lutherville-Timonium Medical Center were honored with design awards by the International Interior Design Association Tennessee chapter. Gresham Smith staff accepted the awards Sept. 22 at the IIDA Design Awards Gala, “Design at the Disco.”
Located in Lake Nona, Florida, the Sarah Cannon Research Institute brings together cutting-edge cancer treatments, advanced diagnostics and research into one location. Clean, white walls, expansive windows and decorative pendants at workstations reflect Sarah Cannon’s innovative practices. In addition, natural warm wood tones give the space a timeless feel. The chosen accents have elements of natural waves and ocean-like features that are attributed to the community in which they reside and elevate the patient-centric approach.
Designed to bring a wide range of health services to the North Baltimore community, the Kaiser Permanente Lutherville-Timonium Medical Center is a one-stop-shop for around the clock care. Positive distractions, such as access to quality daylight, views and community-based artwork are prioritized to enhance the human experience. Using a juxtaposition of interior finishes, balancing the feel of the local Baltimore region and bold pops of Kaiser Permanente’s brand colors to modernize the space, the firm’s interior design embraces the community’s vibrant energy.
