McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. has announced that Preston Hodges, who most recently served as vice president of the Houston division, has been promoted to senior vice president, Houston business unit leader.

Hodges joined the company in 2013 as a project manager focusing mostly on major healthcare and research projects. Upon joining McCarthy, Hodges began executing the launch of the specialized solutions group, which focuses on healthcare, research, and higher education renovations and expansions.

In just three years, Hodges was promoted to a project director, making him one of the youngest in the company. Hodges then led McCarthy’s business development and then the operations group before being named vice president.

Actively involved in the industry, Hodges currently serves on the board of the Associated General Contractors Houston chapter, as well as the board of Construction Career Collaborative. He is also a member of the AGC Construction Futures Committee, American Society of Healthcare Engineers, American Hospital Association and has served on the AGC Construction Leadership Council Board. Furthermore, his passion for the community has led to his involvement with the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo and multiple organizations that raise funds for pediatric healthcare and educational scholarships.

Hodges earned a Bachelor of Science in Construction Science from Texas A&M University. In addition, he holds the following: American Hospital Association Certified Healthcare Constructor License, American Society for Healthcare Engineering Healthcare Construction Certificate, American Society for Healthcare Engineering Infection Control Certificate and Associated General Contractors Project Manager Certificate.

Hodges is taking on this role as Jim Stevenson retires from the position which he has held since 2011.
